The "rap" battle was clearly won by Drake. The "PR" battle (fueled by Drake hate), clearly by Kendrick. There's not a better diss song in the beef than Family Matters and not a worse song than Meet the Grahams. Not a more forgettable song than 6 16 in LA. Drake had better punchlines, better bars, better songs. Kendrick had the better wave.

Drake's claim that he had leaked the information about a hidden daughter was dead on arrival because 10-minutes after Kendrick Lamar had made the claim in 'meet the grahams' about her/their existence, Drake responded with an Instagram story saying, "Hey, if anyone know's where my 'daughter' is let me know. These guys are desperate," as if he was listening to it for the first time with us rather than expecting that shot because he leaked the information to him in the first place. When you follow it all step by step it just makes this song feel like he's trying to scoop his guts back in after getting eviscerated.

The "start" of this was arguably Kendrick's track, "Buried Alive Interlude" on Take Care where he raps about connecting with Drake as being the next huge step in his career but he doesn't know if this new fame will lead to him becoming like Drake falling into vices and hedonistic desires or if he will be able to stay true to himself and his art.

It’s funny that you chose that episode of Jenna and Kevin’s podcast because they both are still friends with her. They talk positive about her on their podcast.
